Production Supervisor- Welding
The Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Program is the most challenging and innovative Defence Project in South Australia and also one of the largest Defence Projects nationally. We are currently seeking a Production Supervisor- Welding to join our Production team.
The Production Supervisor- Welding is responsible for the establishment and application of Production Structural knowledge to the design build, process definition, and program execution of the Air Warfare Destroyer. The position supports those areas defined as being the Structural Welding functions within the production effort, including but not limited to: all types of Welding and Fabrication inclusive of the most basic fabrication assembly and process through to final consolidation of the ships modules.
The successful applicant will be required to supervise welding tradespersons and operators to ensure performance, Quality and Technical standards are maintained across the Structural group and provide advice and recommendations on the structural and welding production aspects of the Air Warfare Destroyer including application of technology, and producibility.
Previous leading hand and/or supervisory experience is essential. Applicants must also hold a minimum of 5 years' experience in the supervision of large complex engineering and construction projects and an extensive knowledge of the fabrication and welding fields of structural, plate and pipe. Welding Supervision qualifications/certificates to AS1796, AS2214 or IIW Welding Specialist or equivalent and Welding inspection qualifications/certificates to WTIA, IIW or CSWIP are also required. It is desired that applicants hold experience constructing ships to Lloyds Naval Design Rules or similar complex vessels to a third party classification authority and experience in Modular Construction of a modern Naval Warship or Submarine.
